-
- I passed my 5 wpm after a couple of weeks of practice and when I tried
- the same thing with 13 wpm I failed the code test badly. After I got
- over the shock I got on the air and started doing at least 2 CW QSOs
- a night. Now here's a new concept, doing CW on the air! What a shock
- that actually using it would make it one good at it! I also used
- Super Morse to help out too. In a month's time I was up to 17 wpm and
- passed my 13 wpm on the next try. However a couple of things happened
- after I got to this point. I enjoyed my CW contacts alot and it dawned
- on me that if I used CW after that point I should easily pass my Extra
- CW test not to much later. So I kept it up and passed my 20 wpm when I
- took my Advanced test. 2 weeks later I passed my Extra written test.
- It took me 1 year to go from Novice to Extra using this method. The
- secret is to GET ON THE AIR AND ACTUALLY USE CW! For some reason this
- seems to not be obvious to most people. That is what the Novice CW
- subands are for. No one will laugh or make fun of you if you have a
- hard time with CW. I know because I really, really stunk when I first
- got on the air and no one was rude to me there! In fact that's where I
- had my first CW DX contact. So once again GET ON THE AIR AND USE IT!!!
-
-
- >The written, on the other hand, was easy as pie.
-
- Agreed!
-
- 73 and good luck!

- Please! This is rec.radio.amateur.policy. If people want to discuss
- homosexuality, great, but there are better newsgroups. This thread
- is no longer related to radio...
-
- If you folks want to hash out the subject, wonderful, but the entire

- Try alt.sex, or alt.motss, or alt.sex.wizards, or some other group.

- How did you arrive at this ingenious conclusion, Dan?
-
- I just returned from San Diego, California. On business trips I always
- bring along my 2 meter HT and talk to the local folks. On this trip I
- heard NO bad operating, even though this area of the country is reputed to
- be rampant with it.
-
- In addition, I was highly impressed by the number of emergency nets and
- arson watch nets that were active until the wee hours of the morning when I
- could no longer keep my eyes (or ears) open.
-
- Does this sound like the "lost cause" that you were referring to, Dan?

-
- I guess we will have to include smokers, overweight and out of shape people
- in this class too!
-
- I strongly object to the view that AIDS victims are somehow "authors of
- their own misfortune" and should simply be ignored on that basis. Not only
- does this view ignore the facts and the history of the disease, such a
- policy amounts to genoicide as ugly as anything the Nazis dreamed up.
-
- I would suggest you look to Africa where the disease started (about 10
- years before a group of gay men in the US were infected). In several
- countries essentially every adult between puberty and 40 years old is
- infected. I know of no reason why this disease won't follow the same
- pattern in the US. According to the AIDS conferences that is exactly what
- is happening.
-
- Treat AIDS as a disease not a cheap and confused morality statement.

- Ed, you are so out of touch with what goes on on campuses today (or at least
- this campus); our campus police have to periodically conduct `raids' in
- the restrooms and arrest these guys; no need to `peep' - the activities are
